The Loch Ken Wild Swim Weekend will return in September. Run by Galloway Activity Centre and now in its 10th year, the swim between September 1 and 3 will raise money for the Galloway Mountain Rescue Team.
Up to 120 wild swimmers will venture in the water to take part in a 1km, 2km or 4km wild swim. There’s also something for youngsters too with a timed kids Splash session, which includes parts of the centre’s famous wobbly waterpark.
As part of the weekend’s festivities, a group of swimmers will also brave the waters after dark on Friday night for the infamous Loch Ken Night Swim.
Introduced in 2017, the night swim is now a popular part of the annual event. The sight of a wave of swimmers slipping out into the dark, gently illuminated by their tow floats is always an incredible sight to behold.
