Lloyds Bank has explained a restriction on making payments after a customer was frustrated to be told they couldn't make a deposit in the way they wanted.
The person said they went into the Kingswood branch in Bristol to pay in £700 into an account belonging to a family member. They claimed they provided details of the sort code and name to branch staff, but they were "refused" and "not allowed" to make the payment.
The bank responded to apologise and explained the rules: "While it would only be the account holder who can deposit cash into their account at the branch counter, you will be able to make the deposit using the deposit machines in branch instead using their account details." The unhappy customer replied asking why did the staff member not mention this fact.
They voiced their frustrations with the system, saying: "Yet, someone has to empty that deposit box at the end of the day. "Why not just accept the cash over the cashier?
