Livingston Women's boss hails side's fighting spirit after comeback win against Inverness

Livingston Women’s boss Paul Jaconelli hailed his side’s ability to deal with adversity as they came from behind to beat Inverness.Gemma Mason’s long-distance opener gave the Lionesses an early lead before defensive errors saw the hosts net twice in the final minutes of the first-half.Jaconelli admits that may have impacted the team last term but goals from Jen Dodds on 69 minutes and a late Debbie Hendry winner is proof they’re made of sterner stuff now.The victory saw the Lionesses jump into the second in the SWF Championship table and pick up their first away win in the process.Speaking to the Courier, Jaconelli commented: “The first 20 minutes or so we were excellent and we got an early goal through Gemma, which was a brilliant finish.“We could have been three or four up and then a mad few minutes just before the break and we’re 2-1 down after a couple of mistakes.“The performance was there but we were behind and maybe last season the heads would have gone down and we wouldn’t get back into it but the belief in this team to keep going is incredible.”He added: “Jen got the equaliser with about 20 minutes to go and you could feel that a winner was going to come so I’m really pleased with both the performance as well as the fight and desire that the girls showed.“We were down on numbers with injuries and only had three on the bench but we dug deep and got the three points that I think we deserved.“We’re a very good footballing side but we’re starting to show that we can really grind out results when needed.”Livi host Morton on Sunday at the Tony Macaroni Arena (4pm kick-off) with the gaffer predicting another tough battle.He commented: “Every game in this league is going to be a real challenge but we’re confident that
