Livingston boss David Martindale says he’s determined to finally enjoy a Scottish Cup run.The Lions host Ross County tomorrow afternoon aiming to reach the last-16 of the competition - but the club haven’t progressed beyond that stage since 2005.That’s in stark contrast to their fortunes in the League Cup where they’ve reached the quarter-finals in four of the last five seasons. While the gaffer admits his frustrations at their lack of success in the more prestigious of the two competitions, he’s under no illusions as to how challenging it will be to knock out the Staggies. He commented: “Ross County are a formidable opponent and in all honesty you are probably not looking to play a team from the Premiership.“You would probably prefer to play someone outwith your own league we have a good chance of winning.“I’ll be honest, I have been really disappointed with my progression in the Scottish Cup.

We’ve never had a great run at it.“It’s always the prestige of the Scottish Cup that you look to get to the latter stages and this season is no different. If there’s something that is perceived as a negative during my time at the club, it will be the Scottish Cup runs.

This is my eighth season at Livingston and I can’t remember having a decent run in this competition.”He added: “It’s something I want to put right.

Getting to the Premier Sports Cup final whets the appetite but you would love to do that with fans in the stadium.“We’ve always historically done well in the League Cup.
