Livingston announce departure of winger Josh Mullin following termination of contract

Josh Mullin has departed Livingston and is expected to sign with Championship side Ayr United.The 30-year-old winger had been on loan to the Somerset Park side during the first half of the season and will now sign on permanently with Lee Bullen's side as they look to mount a promotion charge.It brings to an end Mullin's second spell at the club - having arrived from Ross County in 2020.

He played a key role in his first season but spent last term on loan at Hamilton Accies. Despite netting in Livi's first League Cup clash of the season, he was sent back out this season and has shone under Bullen.Mullin was an instrumental part of the Lions' double promotion after moving to the Tony Macaroni Arena from Albion Rovers in 2016.

He played 123 times for the club during his two spells and became a fans' favourite with his crosses and set-play deliveries earning him the nickname 'The Postman'.Speaking to the club's official website, Livi boss David Martindale said: “I’m disappointed that it’s worked out this way because Josh has played a huge part in the success of the club over the years but Josh needs to be out playing football and I was happy to try and accommodate whatever was going to work best for him.“I want to go on record thanking him for everything he has done for the football club and for myself personally.

He’s someone I consider a friend but also a very, very good football player and he’s certainly helped this club get better with everything he’s offered over the years.”“He’s been a delight to coach over his time here and as much as I’m disappointed this second spell didn’t quite work out how either of us would have hoped, I’m happy we’ve been able to reach a mutual termination that suits both parties and I wish
