But according to the Athletic, Werner is the preferred choice as Sancho would be too expensive. The Reds would have to break their current transfer record to land Sancho, with a fee of £120million being mooted for the England international.
By contrast, Werner would be available for a significantly lower fee of £52million if Liverpool were prepared to meet his release clause.
