Lisa Snowdon has admitted that she is 'still suffering' after contracting viral meningitis years ago, which left her hospitalised for two weeks.
The 52 year old This Morning star took to Instagram to share a video as she supported the Viral Meningitis Awareness week, whilst candidly opening up on her own experience with the serious illness.
Looking fabulous in a red and black printed dress, and with her long dark hair worn straight and glossy with dewy makeup she explained: "As someone who has had viral meningitis, I know only too well how those symptoms can stay with you, and how frustrating it can be." In her lengthy caption, she spoke about the work done by Meningitis Now's awareness campaign, as she explained that she "suffered headaches, memory loss, and depression for years" after contracting the illness.
She wrote: "People are often told they will feel better in a couple of weeks, but for many recovery takes a lot longer and many experience after-effects including fatigue, memory issues and anxiety. "My symptoms took much longer to go away, I suffered headaches, memory loss, and depression for years after- still to this day I suffer with headaches and when I get run down or ill it’s my head that still causes me a lot of pain.. "It’s my area of weakness after being very poorly with viral meningitis for over 3 weeks and not getting help till it was almost too late and I was hospitalised for 2 weeks." Lisa's followers rushed to offer their supports in the comments, with one writing: "Thank you Lisa for sharing!
