Joe Otterson TV Reporter Lionsgate Television has promoted Joel Meyer to executive vice president of worldwide production. Meyer will succeed 18-year Lionsgate veteran Gary Goodman in the role.
Goodman had signed a new multi-year deal to continue on as head of worldwide production in early 2024, but according to an individual with knowledge of the situation, he decided to take an early retirement package offered to Lionsgate employees in the fall.
In his new role, Meyer will head up production on all of Lionsgate’s scripted television series as well as overseeing its East Coast television production facilities in Yonkers, NY, Atlanta, GA, and Newark, NJ. “We’re pleased to promote Joel Meyer, a talented executive from within our ranks.
He has led the charge on many key series while navigating the pandemic and the strikes, and his leadership and dedication will be critical to moving our Television Group forward,” said Lionsgate Television Group chair and chief creative officer Kevin Beggs and vice chairman Sandra Stern.
