Lionel Messi came off the bench to be Barcelona's match winner as they saw off Real Betis 5-2 at the Nou Camp. The Catalans were without a La Liga win in four games following two losses and two draws in recent weeks.
But Ronald Koeman chose to start without talisman Messi as he opted to give starts to Ousmane Dembele, Antoine Griezmann and Ansu Fati.
The Argentine has not been left out from the start since September 2019 as rumours of an ankle problem swirled. Alfred Schreuder, Koeman's assistant, however dismissed those reports and insisted that he simply wasn't fresh.
