Line of Duty actress Christina Chong has given the biggest hint yet that there are plans for the popular crime drama to return for series seven.

The hit BBC saga of anti-corruption unit AC12 came to a finale in 2021, drawing 15 million viewers. However, there were complaints that the gripping show had gone out with a whimper not a bang, and now it seems cast and crew are gathering to deliver another series.

The Daily Mail newspaper reports that Chong, who played DI Nicky Rogerson in series two and six, was quizzed on the prospect of a return at the Hollywood Saturn Awards, where she confirmed: “I have been asked about a season, is it seven?

Yeah. Potentially Nicola Rogerson will be back for season seven.” One of the show’s three lead actors Martin Compston, who played Steve Arnott in the drama, said recently he’d “like to pull his waistcoat out again.” His co-star Adrian Dunbar, who played Superintendent Ted Hastings from the start, appeared to give a similar hint on Virgin Radio about the show’s future when he was asked about his character’s Irish sayings.
