One Direction star Liam Payne may have been under the influence of a drug known to cause psychotic episodes and hallucinations at the time of his death, according to investigating police.The singer tragically fell from a third-floor balcony at the CasaSur hotel on Wednesday night.The 31 year old was reportedly behaving 'erratically' in the hours leading up to the tragic incident.

Buenos Aires police are now exploring the possibility that Liam was high on a potent substance known to cause extreme highs and lows in users and can lead to aggressive behaviour.

Police told TMZ that Liam's behaviour seemed consistent with hallucinogenic drug use, but they have not confirmed what substances were found in the room.The results of tests on narcotics and medications recovered are still pending.

Photos from inside Liam's hotel room revealed traces of white powder, tin foil and a smashed television screen. Officials have not commented or provided any official information to support or rubbish the unconfirmed claims.The initial autopsy, conducted on Wednesday night, indicated that Liam died from multiple trauma injuries, including a skull fracture, which resulted in "internal and external haemorrhaging," reports the Mirror.
