Liam Payne is alleged to have suffered drug addiction in the year before his heartbreaking death. The former One Direction star fell to his death aged 31 in October from the third floor balcony of his room in Buenos Aires, with his suite reportedly littered with drugs paraphernalia.

Now, Liam's friend Roger Nores has shared in a long court filing obtained by Page Six that the performer was voluntarily in and out of rehab centres for nearly a year in an attempt to “overcome” his apparent battle with substance abuse. The papers reportedly read: “I was a friend who loved him very much, who helped him selflessly in everything I could, who spent my own money to help him, and even then it was not enough.

Roger continued: "I do not consider that I deserve the accusation that is being levelled at me.” Roger had been accused of abandoning Liam before his tragic fall but he has reportedly detailed Liam's alleged addiction issues after a judge called for him to be questioned as part of the investigation. The document in which he makes the claims is not a deposition, and Roger used it to defended himself against changes that could have seen him behind bars for 15 years.

Roger included in the papers that Liam’s apparent rehab stints were “not successful” and he made the claim that the singer had tried heroin.
