Lewis Capaldi has announced he will be releasing new music after teasing fans with a clip of a new song on Thursday, The star made the highly anticipated announcement during a TikTok live at 10pm on Friday, as he performed at the 02 arena in London.

He told fans he would be releasing new music on September 9 after performing Someone You Loved as his last song of the evening.Lewis will be releasing a new single called Forget Me next week, understood to be from his new album which is expected to be released soon after.

He made the announcement after a 30 second countdown played on the screen, as thousands tuned in live to watch.Fans at the 02 could be heard screaming before he treated social media followers to a performance of two songs from his first chart topping album Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent.The chart topped asked fans at the O2 to scan a QR code to make a TikTok with him, making the dance up on the spot.While walking backstage after the show, he told fans: "It's good to be back.

I'm very happy."Adding: "We're back, we're back with a bang." Lewis then took a Q&A with fans as comments flooded in and revealed the new single was about an ex-girlfriend who had since moved on and was happy.
