During his performance at BBC’s Radio 1 Big Weekend Festival, Lewis Capaldi led the crowd in a chant of "F**k you, Ed!" aimed at fellow singer, Ed Sheeran.

The video of the moment, filmed in Dundee, Scotland at the end of May, quickly spread online, surprising some fans who were unaware of the playful feud between the two stars that has been ongoing for at least a year.

With a grin on his face, Ed playfully responded on Instagram: "I thought we were friends, Lewis. I thought we were friends.” Alongside the video, Ed cleverly hit back at Lewis using his own lyrics, writing, "I was getting kinda used to being someone you loved." Lewis and Ed, both popular UK singer-songwriters, became friends after Lewis's rise to fame in 2019 with his hit song Someone You Loved. They even collaborated on the track Pointless, from his latest album.

The banter between the two pop stars has been ongoing for some time. It first came to light in 2022, when Lewis shared an anecdote about his fellow musician during an appearance on the Elvis Duran Show.
