Lest you forget - to move your car: Electric motor towed after blocking war memorial on Remembrance Day

A car had to be towed minutes before an Ayrshire town honoured its war dead at the weekend.The almost new electric motor was ditched in front of Kilmarnock cenotaph on Remembrance Sunday.East Ayrshire Council had a Traffic Regulation Order in place for Elmbank Avenue, opposite the Dick Institute, preventing any vehicles from parking on the street.Members of the public and various uniformed services and dignitaries had already gathered at the war memorial to pay their respects to the fallen.

Moments before the two-minute silence, council officials requested police assistance with the matter and the Citroen e-C4 motor was uplifted just before the annual ceremony got underway.Vehicle recovery firm Barry Develin Services strapped the vehicle on to a flatbed truck and removed the motor just in time for the poignant service got underway.It's understood that the unlucky driver now faces the prospect of forking out up to £170 to get their car back.For the latest news and breaking news visit our website.
