Lencia Kebede will be making Broadway history when she joins the cast of Wicked in March. The actress will become the first Black actress to play the role of Elphaba in a full-time capacity on Broadway in the show’s 21-year history. Lencia most recently played Angelica in the national touring production of Hamilton and she has even sung backup for Beyonce on tour.

When Lencia joins the cast on March 4, she will be performing alongside Allie Trimm as Glinda, who moves into the full-time role after previously performing as the Glinda standby on Broadway.

She previously has been seen in the musicals 13 and Bye Bye Birdie. Brittney Johnson previously made Wicked history as the first Black actress to play Glinda full time on Broadway back in 2022.
