Manchester's much-loved tiki bar The Liars Club has announced its closure. The late-night venue located on Back Bridge Street confirmed the news this afternoon and said that it will close its doors for good at the end of December.
Over the last 12 years, the underground drinking den has become known for its tropical-inspired cocktails served in everything from pineapples to novelty props like barrels, coconut shells and volcanoes.
The basement venue is also known for its impressive rum collection and mainly reggae, afrobeat and hip hop soundtrack. The bar is run by hospitality operators Ross Mackenzie, Jobe Ferguson and Lyndon Higginson, who run bars and restaurants in Manchester including the pizza parlour Crazy Pedros, and Cane & Grain.
The Liars Group portfolio also consists of Science and Industry bar on Thomas Street, Crazy Pedro’s on Bridge Street, and The Bay Horse Tavern on Thomas Street in the Northern Quarter, amongst others.
