Each year there's a host of baby names that rise in popularity, and consequently there's also a collection of monikers that become increasingly unpopular as a result.
Some traditional names have remained a firm favourite amongst new parents for decades, while others have slowly been pushed to the bottom of the list.
There's now a series of classic names which are classed as 'extinct', as parents continue to choose more modern monikers. Language school Babbel analysed records from the Office for National Statistics from across the last century, comparing parents' name choices in 2020 to the top 100 most popular names between 1914 and 1994.
