LCD Soundsystem have performed ‘North American Scum’ live for the first time in 13 years – watch the performance below.Last night (December 15), the James Murphy-led band have wrapped their December run of ‘Winter Function’ shows in New York.
For the last three shows of the ‘Winter Function’ run, Murphy and co. performed ‘North American Scum’ off their 2007 album ‘Sound Of Silver’, marking the first time it’s been played in over a decade.During their December 12 gig at the Knockdown Center in Queens, LCD Soundsystem surprised fans by performing the long-dormant fan favourite.
The last time it was played live was at the band’s farewell concert at New York’s Madison Square Garden in April 2011.Watch the performance below via a fan’s post on Reddit.North American scum for the first time since MSG byu/danceyrselftonowhere inLCDSoundsystemThe ‘Winter Function’ gigs come after the release of ‘X-Ray Eyes’ in November. ‘X-Ray Eyes’ marked the first new material from the group – aside from the standalone ‘New Body Rhumba’ from Noah Baumbach’s 2022 film White Noise – since their 2017 comeback album ‘American Dream’, which itself ended a seven-year break after 2010’s ‘This Is Happening’.The song serves as the lead single from LCD Soundsystem’s forthcoming album which is reportedly set for release at some point next year.
