‘Law & Order’ history: First-ever triple franchise crossover
nypost.comThe “Law & Order” multiverse is taking shape. NBC announced Wednesday that all three “Law & Order” franchises will unite for the first time ever in an epic three-hour crossover in September.
The event — kicking off a new season for the franchise — will start on “Law & Order: Organized Crime” and will follow the seemingly cold-blooded murder of a young girl.
The action will continue into “Law & Order: SVU” before seeing justice delivered in “Law & Order.”Two directors will helm the ambitious project, with “Law & Order” veterans Jean de Segonzac directing the first two hours and Alex Hall taking over the final hour.
The script for the telecast was written by Rick Eid and Gwen Sigan.“Nothing demonstrates the power of the Law & Order brand more than an ambitious three-hour event with a story that is truly ripped from the headlines that starts on ‘Organized Crime,’ then migrates to ‘SVU’ and finally the trial on ‘Law & Order,’ ” executive producer Dick Wolf said in a statement. “Rick and Gwen did an amazing job writing a compelling script and I can’t think of a bigger and better way to launch the new season of ‘Law & Order’ Thursday,” he concluded.The crossover will feature numerous popular characters from the franchise, including detectives Frank Cosgrove (Jeffrey Donovan) and Jalen Shaw (Mehcad Brooks), Captain Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay), Detective Elliot Stabler (Christopher Meloni), District Attorney Jack McCoy (Sam Waterston) and ADA Nolan Price (Hugh Dancy).According to NBC, there will no title sequences or credits, and those who wish to delay their viewing are encouraged to record all three shows.
