As fans learned of the worrying news, many rallied to sent their messages of support to the star, who appeared in Celebrity Big Brother in 2013. 'Send love and prayers to Lauren xxx,' wrote one follower, as others wished Lauren a speedy recovery.
Lauren first sprang into the public eye as a precocious 12-year-old antiques expert called James, who famously appeared on the Antiques Roadshow and Wogan.
The Welsh star has since carved out a TV career and even released a single, I Am A Woman in 2015. She has previously spoken about her gender reassignment surgery in 2003, admitting that it was 'dangerous' at the time.
