Last branch of Simon Rimmer's Greens restaurant announces 'heartbreaking' closure
manchestereveningnews.co.ukTV chef Simon Rimmer's remaining Greens restaurant has closed with "immediate effect". Today (September 17), the beloved vegetarian restaurant issued a heartbreaking update to confirm that the "business is untenable", and its doors have been closed permanently.
The closure of the Stanley Square site comes just eight months after the shock closure of the original Greens vegetarian restaurant in West Didsbury.
It sparked an outpouring of shock and sadness from loyal customers and the wider hospitality industry. Greens has been trading in Greater Manchester for the past 33 years, and was seen as a trailblazer in the food world for its vegan and vegetarian offerings. The duo had launched Greens on Stanley Square in Sale in 2022, expanding the brand with a second site for the first time. It offered a similar menu to West Didbsury, but with a bigger bar area, outdoor seating and a roof terrace too.
