A large fire has broken out at a building in Perth and Kinross this evening, sparking an emergency response. The alarm was raised shortly after 7pm when officers were alerted to a blaze having taken hold of a commercial property, believed to be a laundry, on Emma Street in Blairgowrie.
Mercy crews including Police Scotland and Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) sped to the incident with nine appliances currently in attendance as firefighters fight to put out the raging inferno.
Cops also remain on site.Footage taken at the scene, which was shared on social media, shows masses of thick, black smoke billowing into the night sky, which has been illuminated bright orange by the hopping flames.The smoke is believed to be affecting homes around two streets away from the incident itself, and a 'mushroom cloud' was said to have been spotted in the aftermath.There are also concerns around chemicals which are said to be stored in the premise.
Members of the public are being urged to avoid the area and to close their windows due to the amount of smoke in the air.Anyone with a drone is also being advised to steer clear.
