‘Lanterns’: HBO’s DC Series Casts Jason Ritter

Joe Otterson TV Reporter The upcoming DC Studios series “Lanterns” has cast Jason Ritter in a recurring role. Ritter joins a cast that also includes Aaron Pierre, Kyle Chandler, Kelly Macdonald, Garret Dillahunt, Poorna Jagannathan, and Ulrich Thomsen.

Per the official logline, the show follows “new recruit John Stewart (Aaron Pierre) and Lantern legend Hal Jordan (Kyle Chandler), two intergalactic cops drawn into a dark, earth-based mystery as they investigate a murder in the American heartland.” Ritter will play Billy Macon, described as “a good-looking charmer who does his father’s bidding.

Capitalizing on his family’s reputation, he clings to his small-town ego and has everything to lose.” Ritter currently appears in the CBS drama “Matlock” opposite Kathy Bates, which has been renewed for a second season.

He is also set to appear in the upcoming second season of “Poker Face” at Peacock. He is known for his roles in shows like “Joan of Arcadia,” “Kevin (Probably) Saves the World,” “Parenthood,” and “Raising Dion.” He earned an Emmy nomination for his role in “Parenthood” and was also nominated for the short form series “Tales of Titans.” Ritter has also starred in films such as “Frozen II,” “The Tale,” and “The Meddler.” He is repped by The Burstein Company and Gersh. “Lanterns” is produced by HBO in association with Warner Bros.
