Lanarkshire school is offering British Sign Language courses

A South Lanarkshire high school will offer British Sign Language qualifications as part of its curriculum next year.Calderside Academy in Blantyre, which is currently offering a BSL qualification to deaf and ASL pupils, will offer the course to all pupils in the next academic year.As well as this, the school will also provide a six-week short course to first and second year pupils, offering them a taster.

And there will be the opportunity to extend the course to primary school pupils depending on the success at Calderside Academy.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.

"It is still a silent world in more ways than one so I’m delighted to hear, especially in my own area Calderside Academy are taking advantage to improve things and make people more aware.
