Lanarkshire mum 'loses everything' as fire rips through her flat

A Lanarkshire woman has admitted she’s lost everything after her home was gutted by a blaze.Michelle McGeough was left distraught after emergency services raced to Glen Tower in Muirhouse just after 2pm yesterday, after reports of the fire in her flat .Michelle had only popped across the road to her friend’s when she realised that it was her home that was alight.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.

I’m just heartbroken.“I was taking my friend’s washing over the road to her. I could have only been away for five minutes.“I heard the sound of the fire engines and then I got a call from my neighbour to say it was my flat that was on fire.”Police say the fire is not being treated as suspicious and thankfully no-one was injured.For Michelle that is the only crumb of comfort at the moment.She added: “If the fire had happened an hour later then myself and my son would have been inside.“But it’s hard to think straight at the moment with everything that’s happened.”A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 2.11pm on Thursday, February 24, to reports of a fire
