A Lanarkshire hairdressers has celebrated being a cut above the rest for the past 50 years. Haarkapper Hairdressers first opened its doors back in 1973 and has been a feature of the town centre in Larkhall ever since.
The salon was started five decades ago by Margaret Davidson and it remains a family business with daughter Avril Wilson in charge these days.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.

We have a lot of very loyal customers who have been with us for many years.“We had a celebration in the shop on Sunday which was nice.”Both Avril and her sister Sandra worked in the salon alongside their mum and took over the business when Margaret retired.Sadly, Sandra died 13 years ago but the family connections remains at the heart of Haarkapper.Margaret said: “I can’t believe it has been 50 years since I first took over this salon but how time flies as we all know.“We would not be here if it weren’t for all our wonderful clients.
