A driver landed in the dock after coughing at two police officers during a row over his insurance.Hamilton Sheriff Court heard the incident happened during a period when Covid restrictions were in place.Conor Hallford, 28, admitted assaulting the officers by coughing at them outside his home in Birrens Road, Motherwell, on January 15, 2021.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.

The accused's partner was standing in the hallway and stated 'We don't know if you have Covid'."Hallford then coughed deliberately and theatrically towards the officers."Defence agent Eddie Robertson said his client was eight feet away at the time so he wasn't close to the officers.The solicitor added: "He was confident he had insurance.
