Lanarkshire council leader calls on education minister to support school funding bid

North Lanarkshire Council’s leader has written to the Scottish Government calling for a “positive outcome” to the authority’s bid for a £19 million contribution to build two new schools.Jim Logue noted that two previous applications by the authority to the learning estate improvement programme (LEIP) have been rejected, and highlighted the importance of the latest projects, “which are vital to the communities they serve”.The authority is seeking Holyrood support for plans to construct an enlarged primary school and community hub in Gartcosh, as well as extending nearby Chryston High to provide much-needed additional capacity, and will learn the outcome of the latest application next month.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.
