Lanarkshire community transport operators to share thousands of pounds in funding

Community transport organisations across Lanarkshire are to receive funding totalling more than £170,000 to continue running their vital travel programmes in the year ahead.Larkhall & District Volunteer Group, Blantyre Volunteer Group and East Kilbride Community Transport in South Lanarkshire are all among the 18 groups to earn support from the regional strategy by Strathclyde Partnership for Transport.North Lanarkshire groups Glenboig Development Trust and Shotts-based Getting Better Together will also receive thousands in funding to continue their connectivity work, helping to meet vehicle running costs to benefit their communities.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.

Getting Better Together was awarded £40,000 to help provide “accessible, affordable transport for disadvantaged groups, voluntary groups and third sector organisations”; while Blantyre volunteer group will use their £28,000 grant towards running costs for vehicles and volunteers for their “provision of safe,
