Lanarkshire community food bank launch annual Christmas hamper appeal

A food bank has launched a festive appeal to gather more than 300 Christmas hampers for families in need.East Kilbride Community Food Bank - a partnership of local churches - needs to raise £4500 to do this.

The hampers are packed with all that's needed for Christmas day and last year hampers were distributed to 278 families - 458 adults and 221 children - who would have otherwise gone without.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.

Community care worker, Karen Dornan, told Lanarkshire Live : "We are already at 200 hampers ordered and they are continuing to come in. "Especially in the current climate we have been overwhelmed already by the generosity of the community in donations and gifts and are so thankful for all of the support. "There are many people in East Kilbride who will struggle more than ever to provide a Christmas meal for themselves or their families.
