Lanark gears up for Lanimer celebrations as week of events launch on Sunday

Lanark Lanimer week is set to get underway as the historic celebrations return to their former glory. The pandemic saw a significantly scaled down affair in 2021 having been postponed to much later in the year, while the 2020 event was cancelled altogether.

Organisers have promised this year's celebrations to be bigger and better than ever as mass crowds are expected to gather for the much-anticipated annual event.

The bench has been funded by donations from local groups and organisations.There will also be a display in Delves Park which tells the story of the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II.And on Friday, June 11, a Jubilee Tea will be held in Grey Friars church for residents of local care homes.The Lanimer celebrations begin on Sunday, June 5, with the Kirkin' of the Lord Cornet Elect which takes at St Nicholas Parish Church at 12pm.That's followed by the Perambulation
