'Labyrinth' Sequel In the Works, 'Nosferatu' Director Robert Eggers Attached to Write & Direct

A sequel to the cult classic Labyrinth is in the works! The original movie came out in 1986, directed by Jim Henson, and starred the late David Bowie and Jennifer Connelly in her breakout role.

Now, Nosferatu writer and director Robert Eggers is the latest name attached the sequel for TriStar Pictures. Keep reading to find out more… Previously, The Black Phone‘s Scott Derrickson has been attached to direct and Maggie Levin has been attached to write the script. Eggers will pen the script with his writing partner Sjón, with Harry Potter‘s Chris Columbus and his daughter Eleanor producing alongside Lisa Henson. Brian Henson will also executive produce.

Labyrinth followed “Sarah (Connelly) as she races against time navigating a mysterious labyrinth to rescue her baby brother from the Goblin King Jareth (Bowie).” It also featured original songs by David Bowie.

In case you missed it, it was just announced that Robert Eggers‘ Nosferatu has been nominated for several 2025 Oscars, including Best Cinematography, Best Production Design, Best Costume Design and Best Makeup and Hairstyling.
