Kyogo Furuhashi is eyeing the World Cup trail after bagging his fifth goal for Japan.And the Celtic striker will be joined on the path by creative colleague Reo Hatate after the Parkhead star sparkled and set up his mate’s strike in their 2-0 win over Tunisia.
Former Vissel Kobe ace Kyogo made a triumphant return to the city by hitting the opener for Hajime Moriyasu’s men as they extended their outstanding winning run to six games.Hatate also won huge plaudits for his performance off the left side of the engine room and drifted infield to help craft his mate’s effort.
Kyogo, who played only the opening 45 minutes, said: “The ball rolled in a really good spot and I was able to stay calm and score the goal so it was good.
First of all, the team won and I was able to score a goal that contributed to the victory so I’m happy.”Kyogo is now aiming to return to Celtic and stay firmly on the goal trail for boss Brendan Rodgers as Japan prepare to start their World Cup bid.Moriyasu’s men get round two of the Asian qualification phase for the 2026 finals underway next month.
