During the season of goodwill to all men - only the hardest of hearts would begrudge Kyle Magennis a moment to bask in his personal triumph over adversity with Hibs.After all the injury torment, the 24-year-old insists his two goals in a 4-0 win over Livingston can help relaunch their bid for a third place Premiership finish and lay a marker in his attempt to fulfil the promise of a talent which had looked like carrying him to the highest level.A cruciate injury threatened to derail that ambition but as the midfielder slowly regains his feet at the Leith club, he believes a brace against the Lions is the rich reward for winning his battle against the odds.

He said: “I was absolutely buzzing because it’s been a long season for me, with the amount of time I was out injured. It’s great just to be back and to get on the score sheet as well.

I’m picking up where I left off.“I was out for about six months, came back and played one friendly, did my knee and was out for another five or six months.

I think it was 11-and-a-half months before I played my first game back.“It was a difficult time but I seem to have come through it now and hopefully I can kick on.
