Kobbie Mainoo is facing an uncertain future at Manchester United after he was left unhappy with the initial terms the club offered for a new contract.
The 19-year-old England international is under contract at Old Trafford until 2027 but has been heavily linked with a move to Premier League rivals Chelsea.
However, United sources say they do not want to drive Mainoo, a product of United's academy, out of the club. The midfielder has only started five of Ruben Amorim's 12 games in charge of United, but impressed in Sunday's 2-2 draw with Premier League leaders Liverpool at Anfield.
Mainoo spent eight weeks on the sidelines with a hamstring injury in October and November after a weary start to the campaign.
