The King made his much-anticipated return to the public stage on Tuesday, 30 April as he and Queen Camilla visited the Macmillan Cancer Centre at University College Hospital in London.

After a long period of recovery and recuperation, the King looked happy and relieved to be back to work and doing what he does best and meeting members of the public and learning about the work the researchers do. "King Charles looks genuinely happy to be back in the public eye", body language expert Adrianne Carter tells OK! "We see from his wide gestures that he’s relaxed, enjoying himself and taking it all in." Adrianne adds: "When we’re comfortable with situations and ourselves we’re more likely to show genuine smile and expansive gestures.

Although he still looks quite ashen faced, his genuine ready smiles are heartwarming." During the visit, the monarch met with patients and medical specialists, as patron of Cancer Research UK and Macmillan Cancer Support.

He was seen waving and smiling at royal fans who had waited patiently to catch a glimpse of the monarch as he returned to public duties. The visit marked the first of Charles' upcoming public-facing engagements.
