Charles, Prince of Wales (Charles Philip Arthur George; born 14 November 1948) is the heir apparent to the British throne as the eldest son of Elizabeth II. He has been Duke of Cornwall and Duke of Rothesay since 1952, and he is the oldest and longest-serving heir apparent in British history.
He is also the longest-serving Prince of Wales, having held that title since 1958. Charles was born at Buckingham Palace as the first grandchild of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth. He was educated at Cheam and Gordonstoun schools, which his father, Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, had attended as a child. Charles also spent a year at the Timbertop campus of Geelong Grammar School in Victoria, Australia.
King Charles reportedly told his son Prince Harry not to bring his wife Meghan Markle to Balmoral to see his dying grandmother.
It is believed Harry, 37, who comforted an airport worker during his return to London, was at Frogmore when his father, the new monarch King Charles, 73, phoned his youngest son to tell him to come to Balmoral.
A source told The Sun: “Charles told Harry that it wasn’t right or appropriate for Meghan to be in Balmoral at such a deeply sad time. “It was pointed out to him that Kate was not going and that the numbers really should be limited to the very closest family.
Charles made it very, very clear Meghan would not be welcome.” A representative for King Charles declined to comment. OK! has contacted representatives for Harry and Meghan for comment.
