King Charles may be referred to by many as His Majesty but to his young grandchildren, he is simply known as 'grandpa'The 74-year-old monarch has five grandchildren in total which are the Prince and Princess of Wales' kids Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis as well Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's two little ones, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.Over the summer holidays, Charles invited many of his family members to join him at his Balmoral estate including his oldest three grandkids George, Charlotte and Louis. As Prince William's eldest son, Prince George is the heir to the throne and the 10-year-old already has his future mapped out for him as future King but for Charlotte and Louis, things are not so clear.
However, the King once made a sweet wish about what he hoped would happen in his first born granddaughter's life as she got older which he announced just after she was born, the Mirror reports.Charles, who then himself the Prince of Wales, was on a visit to his model town, Poundbury, in Dorset a few days after Charlotte was born.He told well-wishers he had been really hoping for a girl and described her as "beautiful" as he added: "I am thrilled.
I was hoping for a granddaughter – someone to look after me when I am very old."At the moment, the eight-year-old royal's title is HRH Princess Charlotte of Wales - but it's likely she could be bestowed another title when she is older, Princess Royal.
However this title will not be given to her until her father Prince William ascends the throne as it is traditionally passed to the eldest daughter of the monarch.
