The building currently overlooks the home Camilla purchased 30 years ago following her divorce from Andrew Parker-Bowles.“The new arrangement is a pragmatic solution, being both a sound financial investment and a way of maintaining Her Majesty’s privacy, protection and continued enjoyment of her much-loved home, without any public funds being used,” a royal source told the Mail.Camilla, 77, is “grateful and relieved” that her husband intervened, the source adds.While Camilla has rarely returned to her Wiltshire home since becoming queen, she previously used the property as her quiet oasis when retreating from the spotlight.
In fact, she spent many months at the house following the news of Queen Elizabeth II’s death in September 2022.“She has her horses, she walks her dogs and she loves spending time with her family,” a friend of hers told the outlet.
Prior to Charles signing on the dotted line, the building next door to Camilla’s house was set to become a wedding venue, the Mail reports.The former owners converted the home’s garage into an Airbnb rental property, which had attracted hundreds of visitors from all over the world.Planning permission had also been submitted previously, as the former owners had asked the council for permission to increase the size of the rooms and build an additional courtyard.But the influx of visitors had made Camilla increasingly worried about.
