Rising star Sam Keeley is out to cause mayhem on RTÉ’s hit new crime drama, but the actor has rejected accusations that shows such as Kin glamorise gang life.
The drama has already proved to be a ratings winner, drawing in more than 500,000 viewers for its first episode last Sunday night.
However, Kin has come in for criticism from some quarters for its portrayal of gangland life and the graphic nature of some scenes – in last week’s episode a man had his face severely burnt with an iron over a drug debt.
Despite this, the Offaly actor, who plays the violent Eric ‘Viking’ Kinsella, insists it would be wrong not to represent the reality of gangland crime in all its gruesome forms.
