Patrick Frater Asia Bureau Chief Kim Soo-mi, a veteran female actor who had been active in the South Korean film and TV industries for over 50 years, died on Friday.

Korean media reported that Kim was found unconscious at her home in Seoul and was transported to Seoul St. Mary’s Hospital at 8am Friday, Korean local time.

There she was pronounced dead in an emergency room. The media reports point to cardiac arrest and the Yonhap news agency reports that police are investigating the circumstances.

In May this year, Kim was hospitalized and temporarily halted her acting activities due to fatigue. She had been performing in musical “My Mother” at the time.
