Kilwinning Rangers boss Kevin Kelly reckons the future’s bright at the club after heaping praise on his players following their 4-2 home win over Glasgow United in the West of Scotland Cup second round at the weekend.
A Mark Lamont first half brace had the hosts sitting pretty at the interval only for the visitors to get back to level pegging with 20 minutes remaining.
But Kelly’s side found an extra gear in the closing stages as goals from Bryan Boylan and Jack McMann saw them book their place in the third round.Speaking to KRTV, Kelly said: “It’s pleasing to get through and score another four goals.“There was a wee bit of complacency that creeps in to let them back in the game but it shows the character of the players.“I’ve said it before about that group of players in that dressing room.
When they really knit together and get a grip of each other they can get over the line regardless.”The Ayrshire Live app is available to download now.Get all the local news in your area – plus features, football news and the latest on the coronavirus crisis – at your fingertips 24/7.The free download features the latest breaking news and exclusive stories while you can customise your page with the sections that matter to you.The Ayrshire Live app is available to download now on iOS and Android. He added: “That’s the thing about this group of players, I’ve never doubted them.“There comes a point where you just see they’re going to get it together and get over the line.“You’ve got players signing extensions, it’s a great place to be and people have got their tails up and quite rightly so.“Things are really happening at the club and with the backing of the committee and chairman driving us forward, that’s what comes of it.”
