The killer of Nairn banker Alistair Wilson may have hidden in a nearby bandstand watching the police activity before making his getaway.
Bank manager Alistair, 30, had finished getting his two young sons ready for bed when a gunman shot him on the doorstep of his home 18 years ago.
An investigation by Police Scotland has revealed that they believe the victim was involved in a minor dispute with the local Havelock pub which was opposite his home.
And now one of the country’s leading cold case experts, forensic psychologist Claire Hooton, who has investigated the case for over three years, believes the killer, who appeared to vanish into thin air after the shooting, was actually close by watching for police to arrive before making their getaway.
