Arsenal are reportedly looking to Joao Cancelo to replace Kieran Tierney if the Scotland defender leaves this summer. And it comes amid one suggestion they only want £25m for the former Celtic star - as opposed to the £35m touted earlier in the window.
Tierney is firmly out of favour under Mikel Arteta who left him out of the squad altogether for their Premier League opener, a decision which backfired spectacularly when makeshift left-back Jurrien Timber went off injured and he was left with no natural replacement.
Timber is expected to be on the sidelines for a spell alongside Oleksandr Zinchenko and that appears to have slowed their willingness to part with Tierney.
Reports on Monday suggested Newcastle are still keen but are only prepared to sign him on loan this season to stay in line with financial fair play regulations.
