Rangers captain James Tavernier heading into this quarter-final, and rightly so.The English full-back was posting the sort of goals and assists stats that most Premiership strikers would be proud of.Saints boss Jim Goodwin knew that shutting down the classy defender was pivotal to their chances of success on Wednesday night, and he turned to Brandon Mason who pulled that off with aplomb.It was a big call to make any changes to the side that had done so well to leave Fir Park with all three points last Saturday, but Goodwin knew that he couldn't risk playing winger Ilkay Durmus on the left flank due to the danger posed by Tavernier.While Durmus is excellent going forward, his strength does not lie in defending and on-loan Coventry City.
