Motherwell have turned down a significant six-figure offer for red-hot striker Kevin van Veen.Chinese side Changchun Yatai made a bid to land the 24-goal striker earlier this month.
The Super League club made direct contact but Motherwell made it clear they didn’t want to sell their prize asset.Changchun Yatai tabled a sizeable offer but it wasn’t enough to persuade Well chiefs to do business before the Chinese transfer window closed.
The Well board and manager Stuart Kettlewell wanted to keep their top scorer, especially as they are still looking for the points to safeguard their Premiership status for another season.
Van Veen was made aware of the interest and could have pocketed a big increase in wages but was happy to remain and see out the season at Fir Park.The interest certainly hasn’t derailed his form.
