Kevin Clifton was keen to quit Strictly Come Dancing last year but was persuaded to stay, according to reports. The pro, who sensationally quit the show on Friday, was also reportedly resentful of being paired with Anneka Rice in last year's series.

Anneka, 61, struggled with the routines and the pair got booted off the shoe in the third week. It was a tough fall from grace for Kevin, 37, who had won the show the previous year with Stacey Dooley, who then became his girlfriend.

According to The Sun , Kevin was desperate to leave on a high but was talked into staying another year - which saw him suffer a crushing defeat.
