Kelly Clarkson has some thoughts about Carrie Underwood‘s return to American Idol.

If you were unaware, back in August it was announced that the 41-year-old country music star, who won the fourth season of Idol, was replacing Katy Perry as a judge on the show. Kelly, who won the first season of Idol and has been a judge on competing singing show The Voice, reacted to Carrie‘s new gig. Keep reading to find out more… Is Kelly a fan of Carrie‘s involvement?

Absolutely! “I think that’s brilliant,” she told E! News. “Like, what better person to have — somebody that’s won that show to come back.” Kelly added that she thought Carrie would “be honest with [contestants]” and could use her experience to guide them. “That’s invaluable,” she explained. “To have somebody to look at and go, ‘OK, they’ve done it and they’re sitting right there.

So, that means I am capable of doing it. I can dream that big.’” Carrie has previously revealed her one “big problem” with becoming a judge on the show.
