Over the weekend though, Kelly changed it up, and instead of referencing her now ex-husband Brandon, as the “he” in the lyrics, replaced them with “I”, People reports. “This song I initially wrote just super hopeful, right?
And well, sometimes hopeful turns into hopeless, so here we go, ‘Piece by Piece,’” she introduced the song to the audience at her Las Vegas Residency concert.
In addition to the he to “I” changes she made, Kelly also amended the chorus a bit too. “I just walk away / when they ask for money / I take care of me / ’cause I love me,” she now sings.
